Should you buy a Onewheel GT or a Onewheel Pint X?

Onewheels have been making waves in the world of personal electric vehicles lately. Thanks to a CSPC-mandated recall enforced upon Future Motion, the company behind Onewheel products, these innovative devices have garnered a surge of attention. Unfortunately, the media has portrayed them in a sensationalized manner, painting a picture of them as dangerous and deadly.

However, the truth is that Onewheels are awesome and they offer a truly unique and often described “therapeutic” riding experience. Nevertheless, it’s crucial to recognize that, like any board sport, they do come with inherent risks. This should be common knowledge, especially if you’re gearing up to hop on a Onewheel for the first time or pushing its speed limits.

If you’re undaunted by the perceived risks and you’re in the market to buy a Onewheel, you’ll find yourself faced with a choice between two distinct Onewheel models to choose from: the Onewheel GT and the Onewheel Pint X. Making a decision between these two options can be quite challenging.

What does it cost?

The first and most obvious difference is the price tag of both products provided by Future Motion. The Onewheel Pint X comes in at a lower price point compared to the Onewheel GT, making it a more affordable option for many people. However, you really have to understand their respective advantages and drawbacks to determine which one offers the ideal riding experience for your style.

The Onewheel GT is their flagship model and more expensive, but it comes with a number of features that make it stand out from the Onewheel Pint X. A brand new Onewheel GT price ranges from $2,200 – $2,500 while the Onewheel Pint X is priced at $1,400 – $1,600. It’s important to note that these price variations are based on just the board or accessories added to the Onewheel, such as fender and rail guards.

What does a Onewheel weigh?

The Onewheel GT is significantly larger, more stable at high speeds, but heavier than the Onewheel Pint X. The Onewheel GT weighs around 28 pounds, while the Onewheel Pint X weighs around 23 pounds, making the Onewheel Pint X more portable and easier to carry around.

The Onewheel Pint X, on the other hand, is a more compact and lightweight option. It is smaller and more portable than the Onewheel GT, which makes it a better option for people who need to carry it around frequently.

The Onewheel Pint X also has a lower price point than the GT, making it a more affordable option for many people.

How long does the battery last?

The Onewheel GT does have a larger battery, which means it can go further on a single charge. It has a range of up to 20-32 miles, while the Onewheel Pint X has a range of 12-18 miles. This makes the Onewheel GT a better option for longer trips, trail riding and, or group rides.

How fast do they go?

The Onewheel GT has a top speed of 20+ mph, while the Onewhel Pint X only reaches a top speed of 18 mph. The Onewheel GT also has a higher power output (3 horsepower) and torque compared to the Onewheel Pint X, which allows for greater acceleration and faster speeds. Additionally, the Onewheel GT’s high torque allows for more efficient climbing of hills and smooth power delivery at high speeds. The Onewheel Pint X still offers a very good performance but it’s not as powerful as the Onewheel GT. The Onewheel Pint X is still power packed with a 750W Hypercore motor, ready for some pavement but its not going to perform as well off road on trails.

In summary, the Onewheel GT stands out as the more powerful board equipped with a larger battery, higher top speed and extended range. It’s the choice for those seeking to ride trails, race their Onewheel and keep pace with their local group rides.

On the other hand, the Onewheel Pint X presents a more compact and budget-friendly option, making it ideal for individuals who require portability, like commuters or students navigating their campus. It’s perfect for younger riders and those who are just starting out, enjoying casual rides around the neighborhood.
